After DeepSeek, China Stuns Internet With Viral Video Of Humanoid Robots Dancing With Humans

Just a few weeks ago, China took the ‘world’ by storm after it introduced its AI chatbot DeepSeek- a tough competitor for Open AI’s Chat GPT. From its quick responses to its impressive DeepSeek-R1 model that required way less investments in its building than the expenditure caused in the building of Chat GPT, the Chinese start up was quick to take the AI world and the internet over soon after its launch. The matter was hardly out of the headlines, when the country seemingly did it again! Only this time, the applause was over a viral video of multiple humanoid robots dancing with humans! Yes, the clip in question showed humanoid robots- Unitree H1 by Unitree Robotics- dancing alongside human dancers at the Spring Festival Gala in China. For the ultimate human touch, the robots were also wearing costumes, while acing the well-coordinated dance performance.

The video began to do rounds on social media, leaving people impressed and scared at the same time.

“Unitree H1: Humanoid Robot Makes Its Debut at the Spring Festival Gala. Hello everyone, let me introduce myself again. I am Unitree H1 ‘Fuxi’. I am now a comedian at the Spring Festival Gala, hoping to bring joy to everyone. Let’s push boundaries every day and shape the future together,” the post read.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘UnitreeRobotics’. The post was shared a while back and pulled more than 4 million views from people.

The clip went viral in an instant, leaving the internet with a mixed reaction. Most loved how the entire performance went and lauded China’s technological advancement, while some found the dancing robots scary and expressed their concerns of AI and AI robots becoming eing ‘too smart’ and human-like.

“I am not sure why, but images of robots (automatons?) dancing and carrying on is a bit scary,” a user said. “Yup this is the beginning of the end of humanity. Reminds me of the ‘sci-fi indoctrination movies’, in this case, Terminator,” added a second person.

“Um…no thanks. Some boundaries are there for a reason. This creeps me out,” added another. “This is too impressive, honestly. They are dancing better than me,” added another.
